Kathmandu – In the 96th edition of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar Award), the film ‘Halkara’ will represent Nepal in the international feature film category.
Samipyaraj Timalsena, a member of the committee informed that it was decided to recommend ‘Halkara’ from among the applications of films submitted for participation to the selection committee in Nepal.
He said, ‘We have decided to recommend Halkara by taking into account the technical aspect, the presentation of the story, the emotional analysis of the characters and the artistry of the presentation, etc.’ Halkara’, ‘Nirfool’, ‘Bulaki’ and ‘Bagan’ applied for participation.
According to the criteria, movies that were screened from October 15, 2079 to August 29, 2080 participated in the competition.
The five-member selection committee headed by Raju KC, member of the Film Development Board, has Manjukumar Shrestha, Gautam Dhimal, Samipyaraj Timalsena as member and Ritika Bhattarai as secretary.
