Agency. Acting Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar ul Haq Qakar has expressed dissatisfaction with the manifesto issued by the political parties for the general election. He said that the political party has not presented a high and sustainable plan for the economy through its manifesto.
Prime Minister Kakar has assured that there is no reason to justify the delay in the general elections. He said that the rumors spread by the political party candidates about the delay in the general elections will end on the evening of February 8.
Emphasizing that parties should focus on improving the economy, he noted that no political party has brought an effective agenda to solve long-term economic problems.
He is of the opinion that the claims made by political parties in their campaigns on issues such as employment, shelter, accessible electricity and food security are contingent on a stable economy. According to him, it is necessary for political parties to make a plan to expand the area of revenue generation and taxation.
Giving an example of 91 percent tax-GDP ratio in Scandinavian countries, Kakar claims that Pakistan’s tax to GDP subsidy ratio is only 9 percent.
Regarding the rigging before or after the election, he said that the parliament should learn from the past and address the errors in the law related to the election.
He assured that the observers will monitor, report on the activities through local and international media, and assure that the election will be free and fair according to the standards.
The voting time will be on February 8 from 9 am to 5 pm. Prime Minister urges everyone to exercise their constitutional rights by voting.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has banned federal ministers and government officials from traveling abroad until the elections.
